Production Capabilities

At Lufkin, we have the size, flexibility and expertise to create customer specific solutions for castings. Our engineering and metallurgy experts work with you and leverage the power of “Magmasoft” casting simulation software to optimize the cast design and meet tolerance requirements as well as quality specifications. To ensure the highest reliability and performance, we utilize solidification modeling software and pouring simulation. Using a solid model built by a customer or by Lufkin, we pour iron into the model to improve the gating systems. Then, we monitor the solidification process to assure the integrity of the casting and run the model several times before the actual casting is made. So you know the produced casting will work before it is ever built.

Rapid Response Casting

Lufkin’s Rapid Response Casting service provides customers with a new and innovative way to repair gearbox housings and gearbox parts. A faster form of reverse engineering, with Rapid Response Casting we laser scan the customer’s broken item using 3 D photogrametry, giving us both a laser scan and an accurate picture. As a result, instead of taking 3 to 4 weeks to complete the scan, with Rapid Response Casting the process takes only 3 to 4 days. As soon as the scan is completed, the pattern is sent to our in-house shop to do the CNC and make the new part, significantly cutting down on delivery time.
